In this demo, we go through the sequence of operation to see which step has the issue Jumper the board from R to W. The sequence is: 1. Inducer motor will run 2. Pressure switch will close and Ignitor will come on 3. Gas valve will turn on and should produce flames 4. Once flames are verified, Blower motor will run In this case, the gas valve did not come on.
We got our multimeter out and tested for 24 volts coming to the gas valve. Since there was voltage, we determined the gas valve was bad and changed it
Once we understand what we are working on, life gets a bit easier. There are many parts and sensors in a gas furnace for safety reasons. With a little education on the anatomy of a gas furnace, we all can repair it ourselves.
